President of CIOMR, Lieutenant-Colonel Stragier By Lieutenant-Colonel Michel Decourtit, CIOR PA Committee A Belgian doctor, reserve Lieutenant-Colonel Filip Stragier has served as president of the CIOMR since 2006. After medical studies at the University of Ghent, he fulfilled his national service as a medical officer of a logistical support battalion in Germany. In civilian life, he is a general practitioner and contributes to the French website “Santé militaire”. As a reservist, he is assigned to a military hospital in Brussels, and is a member of the committee responsible for coordinating the activities of Belgian medical reservists. As secretary of the “Association royale nationale de la réserve médicale militaire” (Royal Belgian National Medical Military Reserves Association), he works to strengthen ties with sister associations in Northern France and the Netherlands. He currently serves as secretary of the CIOMR scientific committee and assists with the organization’s newsletter. LCol Stragier has completed in the military medical care management course at Rijswijk, Netherlands and, in 2002, the Canadian Joint Reserve Command and Staff Course in Toronto.
