“We are able to improve and advance the Workshop year by year”
By Major Andreas Klahn

Captain Dr. Philipp Schütt, German Air Force

Since Capt. Schütt joined the Young Reserve Officers Workshop for the first time during the CIOR Congress at Strassbourg in 2002, he has been impressed by the international reservist work with CIOR and the possibility of an international exchange of young reserve officers. Since the Viterbo Summer Congress in 2006, Capt. Schütt has been a member of the YROW Committee and is responsible for German YROW participants.

In his civilian career, Capt Schütt works as an attorney. After his three-year active duty and officers’ training with the German Air Force, he studied law at the University of Cologne, where he graduated in 2005. During the semester break, he served as an intelligence officer on the NATO Stabilization Force in Bosnia (SFOR). Over the past two years, Capt Schütt worked in an international law firm and completed his doctoral thesis in German employment law.

One of the most experienced YROWs, Capt. Schütt says the YROW Committee is able to improve and advance the Workshop year by year. Since CIOR opened opportunities for new members and the workshop takes place in countries with less experience in international reservist work, it is more and more relevant.  In his opinion, the latest Workshops in Skopje, Tirana and Riga showed that the new members are very proud of their work within CIOR and that they put a lot of energy into the workshop. Capt Schütt wants to share his experiences with these new members, whose YROW Directors are planning and executing such workshops for the first time.
