Long-serving Spanish officer keeps In Spanish "hola" means "hello", which put together with the common Spanish name "Juan", is somewhat indicative of a colleague who`s been representing Spain with the CIOR for more than 12 years. Juan Ros, has been involved with the CIOR since 1995, currently serving as the reserve organization`s vice-president for Spain. Officers with the Voluntary Reserve now represent Spain with the CIOR, whereas previously Spain sent conscripted officers (second lieutenants) from the complement corps. Juan has been very active with the DEFSEC component of CIOR and served as an assistant secretary general prior to becoming vice-president for Spain in 2005. He particpates in annual meetings, congresses and seminars, and was an organizing member of the 2001 congress in Madrid, specifically responsible for the YRO workshop. In 2000, he graduated from the public information officer course at SHAPE. Nationally, Juan has been very active in the renewing of the Voluntary Reserve, working with veteran and reservist associations to organize courses, workshops, and local military events. He lives in Barcelona where he is a civilan engineer and owns a consulting firm, specializing in human resources and business management. Divorced, he has a 21-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son, and enjoys several hobbies, which include classic cars, flying and sailing.
